When to arrive
Students are expected to arrive on campus by September 3 2018 and can move into the campus residence starting at 10 AM. Let us know if you must arrive before so we can help you book alternative accommodation.
Arriving by plane
Please confirm your arrival details with us in advance so we can arrange to greet you and provide transportation to our campus.
Upon arrival at Chicago O’Hare International Airport, you should:
- Proceed to the baggage claim area to retrieve your luggage.
- Continue through customs and exit into the arrival area

Lost luggage: If your luggage is lost or misplaced in transit, it’s important to report it to the airport authorities immediately and follow their standard procedure. If you provide them with your name, phone number and the address of your destination (either at Les Roches or an alternative accommodation), they can deliver the luggage to you once it has been retrieved. Getting around in Chicago
Though Chicago is often described as a “walking city,” it is also a city whose vast spaces and diverse neighborhoods are served by America’s second largest transportation system. The Chicago Transit Authority includes the famous “L” trains that connect 144 rail stations in the Chicago metropolitan area. There are also buses serving more than 100 routes through the city. Fare information, schedules and route maps are available at http://www.transitchicago.com.
Though there is still a thriving taxi trade in Chicago, app-savvy tourists are increasingly turning to alternatives like Uber and Lyft. Those partial to both cabs AND apps can electronically hail and pay for cabs using Curb and Arro, available at Chicabs.org.
Looking for a less obvious form of transportation? Chicago also has options for traveling by:
- Water taxi: Chicago Water Taxi or Shoreline Water Taxi
- Suburban commuter rail: Metra
- Rental bicycle: Divvy
Ride free with U-Pass
All students receive a transport card called a U-Pass as part of their additional expenses. The U-Pass provides unlimited rides on Chicago Transit Authority trains and buses throughout your enrollment as a full-time student.
